Click on images to view enlargements.VoWac Spelling Levels 1 through 4 use direct teaching instruction to reinforce and complement the phonics program through practical application. All levels include weekly take home pages to promote parental involvement.
Approximately one week after a concept is taught in the phonics program, it is reintroduced in spelling. This helps to provide practical transfer and use of the targeted skills.
1. Item STG-1 Level 1 - The first lesson is not taught until just prior to the end of the first school quarter, following the teaching of Skills Lesson 43. The beginning concept of CLOVER (open and closed syllables) are taught prior to starting the spelling program at this level.
2. Item STG-2 Level 2 - The first lesson is taught following Skills Lesson 142. Essential story elements are learned at this level.
3. Items STG-3a & STG-3b
Level 3 - Uses VoWac's six week writing process on Wednesday of each week of the school year to create five separate stories featuring one main character.
4. Item STG-4 Level 4 - Uses VoWac's six week writing process on Wednesday of each week of the school year to write a five chapter book featuring one main character.
Spelling Workbooks for Levels 1-4 provide practice and reinforcement of the lessons. Level 1 is available in two common writing fonts: School Upright or School Slant.
